How to use it
- Switch on your hazard lights and find the towing eyes on both vehicles (the eye often screws into the bumper and is stored with the spare wheel).
- Put a shackle through each loop of the strap, fix it to the towing eye and screw the pin in tight.
- Check that the strap isn't twisted and doesn't rub on any sharp edge.
- Pull away gently with the towing car until the strap is taut, without jerking.
- Drive slowly, keep the strap taut at all times and brake gently.
Why choose this tow rope
A tow rope is one of those things you hope you'll never use, but it saves the day when the moment comes. A breakdown on a country road, an icy slope, a friend's car with a flat battery in a car park: with the strap in the boot, all you need is a second vehicle to get going again safely, without calling a recovery truck and waiting.
Many cheap straps are thin nylon with spring hooks that can open under load. This one has a 5 cm strap in high-tenacity polyester, woven in one piece, and steel shackles with screw pins that won't come undone. The 8-tonne rating leaves a wide margin, even for a loaded SUV or a 4x4 that needs pulling out of the mud.
The reflective strip is a detail that matters when the breakdown happens in the evening or in the rain: drivers coming up behind can see straight away that the two vehicles are connected. Rolled up, it slips under the boot floor without taking up space.
Ready in the boot for the day the car won't start
A flat battery, an engine that cuts out in a flooded street, a wheel stuck in mud: it happens to reliable cars too, and the recovery truck can take hours to arrive. With a tow rope in the boot, another car can get you to the garage or pull you out of the mud in minutes. This one is high-tenacity polyester woven in one piece, 5 m long and 5 cm wide, rated up to 8 tonnes, and it comes with two steel U-shackles. A reflective strip makes it visible at night.

The benefits at a glance
- Rated to 8 tonnes
The high-tenacity polyester strap is woven in one piece with no joins: it holds up to 8 t, far more than a car or SUV weighs. - 5 metres long
Long enough to keep a safe distance between the two vehicles and to reach the towing eye even when the car is at an angle. - 5 cm wide and hard-wearing
The wide strap spreads the load and stands up to rubbing against tarmac and bumpers. - Reflective strip
A fluorescent retro-reflective band throws back the light from headlights and shows other drivers the strap is there, even in the dark. - Two steel shackles included
The U-shackles connect the loops to the towing eyes on both vehicles and lock with the screw pin. - Reinforced loops
The loops at each end have a protective sleeve that stops them wearing against the towing eyes.
